I love decorating my home. Ever since I was a kid I was always rearranging my room. Now that I have my own house to play around with…let’s just say I change things A LOT. In my defense, I have slowed down. As I begin to uncover the depths of interior decorating and narrow in/shuffle through to find my own taste, things are coming together. Making your house a home is a process they say. Takes time.
Over the last few years, the kitchen and dining room has peaked my interest more and more. I have come to learn about myself that I love a good dish or drinking glass. I have also uncovered that I am not alone in that via The Beautiful Table Settings of America Facebook group I am now in. (I am not sure if anything screams “I am a millennial” more…)
It all started with my grandmother’s china. A 2020 version of me, moving into my first home, swearing off china cabinets and anything in them until…she gifted me her china as a housewarming of course! It took a little while but eventually I came around.
My latest refresh this year was to some of our everyday dish ware. I fell in love with Williams Sonoma’s Famille Rose collection. The pattern has quite a bit of history behind it which is also very interesting. The colors are beautiful, and really bring some brightness to an early spring day. They have a lot of serve ware pieces and beautiful canisters to be displayed on a kitchen counter and it really makes things more lively and colorful.
I also fell in love with Pottery Barn’s Monique Lhuillier Juliana dinnerware collection. The pieces remind me of a flower which I thought would be the perfect white base for any mixing and matching on a table scape. My mom gifted me this set for my birthday last month. It is so classic & timeless and will last me forever. I love it! (Thanks Mom)
From there I decided I discovered Bordallo Pinherio. If you know anything about dishes and china, especially if you are from the south, you know this brand and what it is that they are known for. That’s right, you guessed it, I have started adding some cabbage pieces to these beautiful whites, florals, and colors. It is the perfect pop of green.
The last & best addition to this table-scape is actually something I stumbled upon in my grandmother’s china cabinet. It was the perfect finishing touch and so sentimental to have a piece of her at my spring table. These amber glass sunflower dessert bowls.
The way everything can be mixed, matched all throughout spring makes my heart so happy. I love all the patterns, colors, ode to florals, and vegetables. I know these pieces will remain with me throughout my life. It was the perfect kitchen, spring refresh from Williams Sonoma and Pottery Barn. Hope you think so too.
